Children are the future of this world, and they must realize the distinction between right and wrong and people often give punishments to make them understand this. It is argued that juveniles must be penalized for committing crimes to make them civilized whereas others consider that their parents should be punished as they play a vital role in molding their personality. In this essay, I am going to analyze both aspects of the given notion. However, I support the Former/Latter view.
To begin with, there are convincing factors that are in favor of the former view. The first and predominant is that if children commit crimes and are caught red-handed, they are punished for their wrongdoing. Thus, they become conscious of their actions’ bad consequences and avoid doing anything wrong as punishment can create fear in their minds, and they will keep an arm’s distance from crime and will behave gently in society. To exemplify, In India, it was written in a famous newspaper that some youngsters put acid on a girl because she refused the boy’s proposal. As a result, this type of offense is only controlled by giving strict punishment.
Moving towards the other argument, the first and pertinent point in its favor is the careless behavior towards their offspring. To elucidate further, both parents are working now, and due to this, they not only spend time with their juveniles but also neglect their online and offline activities. Despite this, some parents also perform inappropriate acts in front of their kids so that teenagers assimilate the same. For instance, there was recent news about a boy in Bihar who hit a girl because he always saw his father beat his mother numerous times.
To recapitulate, I feel that giving the right punishment for a crime is needed if children commit it. After getting punishment, children will avoid doing illegal activities. Parents are sometimes equally responsible for their children’s crimes. It has a detrimental impact on society, hence kids should be penalized for their own mistakes.
